in the beginning

A 49 year old male, I work the night shift. ICU nursing for 15 years give or take. Took a couple of years off to pursue a different nursing path, but it just wasn't for me. I like the flexibility, reasonable pay, lots of time off and occasionally I get to help someone. It's not like I always know, more often than not, patients transfer out and I never know what becomes of them. Sometimes we get letters, sometimes people clip obituaries and post them in the report room. There has been a couple of times folks have come back to the hospital to show us that they survived and they offer their gratitude. It's nice. I don't think the fella I have tonight is going to though, he's pretty messed up.
